About Me

I am a fun loving and hard working family guy with a passion for tehcnology. I have worked in the software industry since before 2000. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from UCSD and had planned on working with firmware. However, I found myself working on the “softer” side of computers. I have also completed Masters Degree in Computer Science from CSUSM where my thesis focused on using Machine Learning to find meaningful Autism clusters.

Professionally, I have had the privilege of working on large-scale, distributed back-end systems for academia, defense, and e-commerce/entertainment industries. I have had a rewarding career and have enjoyed the many challenges and learning experiences in these fields and especially all the friends I have made along the way.

About Games

Like it or not, gaming is a huge part of the what drives the tech industry. I probably barely qualify as a “gamer dad”, but I have and do dabble. Here are some of my favorite games:

  • Wumpus - It’s not a great game, but it is one of the first of its kind.
  • Webster - I spent a painstaking amount of time copying, by hand, the code for this game out of a magazine. Also, not a great game, but it has nostalgia for me.
  • Ultima - I don’t know how many of the Ultima games I’ve played, but it is a lot. The game series is still going today with Shroud of the Avatar.
  • Tetris - Still a good game. Tricky Towers is pretty good too.
  • Battle Chess - Not because I like Chess, but because I like to watch the pieces fight. You can still buy the game!
  • Mario Kart - Too fun
  • Minecraft - I hated Minecraft when I first played it. Then I played with my daughter and now it holds a special place with me.
  • The Last of Us - The first one, not the second one.
  • Overwatch - The first one, not the second one. I killed a lot of hours on this game.
  • Horizon Zero Dawn - Ya it’s pretty good.
  • Fallout - Not a fan of the show, but the game was immersive
  • God of War - I generally don’t like Melee fighting games, but I enjoyed this one. It was also fun to play along with my daughter.
